Teaching
Before returning to industry (April 2007) I did some lecturing for the School of Maths, Physics and Information Technology at James Cook University (JCU) in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. I’d be interested in doing some teaching in industry in the future.
Based on our work on student project subjects - students spend a year doing an industry/community project - Phillip Musumeci and I won a Carrick Citation for outstanding contributions to student learning in 2006:
“For creation of industry project subjects that cultivate practical skills for understanding problems and managing risks, supported by collaborative tools for peer review and reflection”

Introduction to Computer Science II
I also lectured for cp1300: Introduction to Computer Science II, which is run from LearnJCU. It’s c++, which is not one of my favourite languages, but I kept myself interested by writing interesting assignments (“The Caverns of Mysteriousness”, “Baby, Baby Baby”).
Databases
In the past I’ve lectured for Advanced Database Management, and enjoyed studying Oracle DBMS 10g in Carrie Lui’s class. I think it’s really important to keep oneself up to date with technology if you are going to claim that you know something about technology.
